Camilla Stringer was back at the office (my office) sitting at my computer while I edited the film on another computer and she came up with this match. Our 0238 was photographed last season on the 14th of April 2009. She matched it to Allied Whale's na3027 first photo id-ed in 1980 at Placential Bay, Newfoundland by Jon Lien and then again in 1983 by Professor Hal Whitehead in Witless Bay, also in Newfoundland. Our photograph below is matched to Professor Jon Lien's of Memorial University of Newfoundland on the left and Hal Whitehead's on the right. Seems incredible that a whale could go unphotographed for almost thirty years, as many of our matches have done.

Seeing if I could duplicate Camilla's luck, I sat at the catalogue before going to bed and found this match below. Our 0235 was also photographed on the 14th of April 2009 and matches to a photograph taken by the Center for Coastal Studies in 1984 on the Silver Bank in the Dominican Republic and again on the Silver Bank in 1993.
