How long can a whale live without food? Print
FAQs
Whales can live a long time without food because of their blubber where they store extra fat during their summer of feeding. Humpbacks make some of the longest migrations of any animal and when they reach the warmer waters of the tropics where they spend the winters so the mothers can have their babies there is little or no food. So humpbacks may not eat very much if anything for four or five months each year.
